This prized micro lot comes from the Odako Kebele station in the Sidama Region. This station belongs to Daye Bensa, a company owned by Asefa Dukamo Korma that comprises a farm (Gatta Daye Bensa Farm) and multiple washing stations. Asefa’s stations process coffees for 563 smallholders and are known for very strict record keeping. Lots are sorted per delivery date, village, farmer and lot number, allowing for full traceability throughout processing.
This specific lot we sourced for Wildcard was named Odako. It’s a micro lot of 7 bags of some of the highest quality coffee Daye Bensa processes. Upon arrival the cherry was sorted by floating; picking only the ripest cherry. The coffee was then dried on african beds for 13-15 days. At Daya Bensa one person is assigned per individual bed to rotate the cherries every 15 minutes to ensure uniformity of drying.
The rigorous tracing and quality control show off. This cup is an excellent example of the best Ethiopia has to offer. We couldn’t resist its intense tropical sweetness and we’re sure you will love it as well. We taste mango & pineapple as well as nectarine and a touch of vanilla. Truly a beautiful, delicate coffee.
